Service calls?

Why is it that when you set up appointments for people to come 'service' things in your house that you end up waiting during the 'window' of time they gave to you, and then they are STILL later than that??

Why is it when you give a phone number (for MY convenience) to have them call when they are on the way... to make sure I'm dressed, whatever... when they call it, and you don't answer, they DON'T come?? I mean, I asked for a call and gave a phone number for ME, not you. You are scheduled to come, so COME. How is that OK that they then decide that means you aren't home? What about the window? Do they want details about what I was doing and couldn't get the phone when it rang?? I think not...

Why is it that I took the entire day off of work because the AC people couldn't come late as it would get too late and too dark to diagnose the leak in my AC system... only to find out that as I sit here waiting... they are now (???) scheduled to come between 3 and 6 tonight?? I could have worked almost a full day and been home by 3... but they had told me that was too late.

Do these people REALLY think they are giving SERVICE to their customers? Do they REALLY think no one works OR has NOTHING else to do around the house that we can sit here for the 'window' of 8-5 for them to show up at 6 pm?

I guarantee that when the AC people DO arrive (between 3 and 6) it will take too long to find the leak and 1. they'll have to come back to find it, or 2. they'll find it and will have to make ANOTHER appointment to fix it. How many days off do they think people can take in a week, or even a month?? I want to spend my vacation days with my kids, thank you very much, not sitting here waiting on you to have your lunch and decide I'm not home because I didn't answer my courtesy call. (It's a cell phone anyway, who's to say I'm home if I DO answer it when you call???)

I hate service calls. I hate when things break. I hate the money I have to spend to fix something I already bought. I hate that I sit here for 5 hours before any one of 3 service men show up and when he gets here, his B.O. is so bad, I gag! Why do people (atleast those who stink) believe deoderant isn't a necessity? There are VERY few people in the world that can pull off the no deoderant thing. This workman is not one of them. But hey, at least he showed up! I can't have it all, I guess!!
